According to data collected by Petplan, Herefordshire had been named the most pet-friendly county in the whole of England.

Many pet owners will know first-hand how difficult it can be to take pets abroad, which makes holiday-making in the UK a shrewd choice for a good number of pet owners. Holidaymaker demand for pet-friendly destinations has soared in recent years. In 2021, Airbnb reported a 65 per cent increase in searches for pet-friendly holiday lets on the site.

Pet Plan analysed more than 70,000 reviews of destinations specifically from pet-owning holidaymakers, and have revealed which locations are rated most highly to take a furry friend away on a break. Each destination is ranked on having the highest percentage of reviews that measure between seven and 10 out of 10.

Herefordshire is the best place in England to go on holiday with your pet, 87.7 per cent of pet-related reviews of holiday destinations in the county were accompanied by either seven, eight, nine, or 10-star ratings; Northumberland comes in second place, with 85.5 per cent. Just across the border, Monmouth has the best reviews for Wales.
