The Ross branch of the Royal British Legion organised their annual Veterans’ Tea Party on Sunday, July 15th.
Music was provided by the Cinderford Academy Band and the Forest of Dean Male Voice Choir. They were also joined by local singer Courtney Cawthorne who sang ’The White Cliffs of Dover.’
Graham Aplin, Chairman of the Ross Branch of the Royal British Legion, told the Ross Gazette: “These events are important to bring together those who served their country and also to help support those who have lost friends and relatives.”
He had collected their special guest, Chelsea Pensioner Ivor Williams, who was also visiting the memorials at St Mary’s Church and Bridstow.
The Mayor of Ross, Cllr Harry Bramer, his Consort, Maria Ward and the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Coker were also enjoying the afternoon. Tea was served by the supporters of the British Legion and the Sea Cadets helped with serving the sandwiches and cakes.
Unfortunately Margaret Jones, who had put a tremendous amount of work into organising the event, was unwell and unable to attend.
