The Met Office have issued a yellow warning of a thunderstorm between 11:00am and 8:00pm on Friday, July 13th, 2018.

The warning says that there is the potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms during Friday, and there is a good chance that driving conditions will, at times, be affected by spray and standing water, leading to some minor journey delays.

Some short term loss of power and other services due to lightning strikes is possible, as well as possible delays to train services and the flooding of homes and businesses. A few places could receive 20-30 mm of torrential rain within an hour.

Friday’s thunderstorm is likely to bring disruption to a few places, but it will not last for long as the heatwave is expected to return this weekend.
