Madam, I attended the Ross Town Council meeting recently as a member of the public. One of the items on the agenda was the proposed relocation of the tourist information centre in Ross. Being registered blind I make frequent use of the centre, currently at Swan House, and find the staff extremely helpful.

At the Council meeting it was suggested there are two main alternatives for resiting the Tourist Centre. These are: l) the Heritage Centre and 2) the Corn Exchange.

I listened with great interest to the discussion at the Council meeting and would comment as follows:

The Heritage Centre would be restricted by the exhibitions it holds, but most of all access is very offputting, particularly to local people. The steps and stairs at the Centre deter quite a lot of locals from visiting it.

I raised these objections with several members at the last meeting of the Visage Club—a social club for older and disabled people - and most of them agreed they were against the Heritage Centre proposal.

On the other hand I would strongly support the Corn Exchange plan. The Exchange is not far from the existing centre. There are nearby car parks and it is on one of the main approaches to the town and is accessible centrally.

I know there are other factors to be considered. However for me, and others I have spoken to, the Corn Exchange is the number one favourite. I trust it will remain so.
