Dear Editor,
During the 1960s and 1970s I lived at Coughton or Walford. As a regular bus user I can remember the bus shelter at Coughton often being swept out and the bushes etc being cut back by a local resident, who sadly died many years ago.
I have since moved away but every so often I go back to visit friends and family. As a non-driver I use the bus to get to Coughton. Everytime I do this I am totally ashamed of how the bus shelter has been neglected. Surely the local council could, and should, make more of an effort to tidy it up. The seat inside the shelter has years of dust on it, leaves and rubbish litter the floor inside, and the seat outside the shelter is unusable because of the nettles growing through.
I live in a village in South Wales now and all our bus shelters are hosed out on a regular basis and the rubbish is picked up every other day. How refreshing it would be for me to go home, and I still consider Coughton to be my home, and see a tidy bus shelter, fingers crossed.
