A decision about the Old Chapel has been put on hold to allow Councillors time to consider the report prepared by the Project Officer for Ross Town Council.

When Ross Town Council acquired the Old Chapel, as part of the Asset Transfers, the plan was to transfer the Council offices to the building, which could also be used for civil ceremonies such as weddings and humanist funerals.

A fee of £1,500 was paid to allow ceremonies to be held there, however it is in urgent need of repair.

The officer, Rebecca Tamplin, was praised for her full and interesting report about the Old Chapel which she presented at the Extraordinary meeting of Ross Town Council on Wednesday, July 29th.

She told the Councillors that as it stood it would fetch about £100,000 on the open market but if sold 50% of this would have to be paid to Herefordshire Council.

The building which is currently empty is costing approximately £6,000 per annum to maintain.
