ROSS Town Councillors are urging people to contact them to express their views about the plans for a new Tesco store in Ross.

Last week, Tesco submitted plans to Herefordshire Council to build a 5814m2 store, 294 car parking spaces, a petrol filling station, a new access road to the site off Overross Street.While Ross Town Council has no formal planning powers they will submit their own recommendation to Herefordshire Council based on what they perceive to be the local opinion.

Ross Town Council need to have received all submissions from members of the public by Tuesday, September 3rd. If you want your opinion heard, you must contact your Councillor or email the clerk to let them know: [email protected]">[email protected]

Alternatively you can comment on the planning application directly to Herefordshire Council. They request all comments to be in by September 19th. The application (132028/F) is available to view via the Herefordshire Council online planning portal at: http://news.herefordshire.gov.uk">http://news.herefordshire.gov.uk

This week, local businessman Andrew Meek wrote to the Association of Ross Traders concerned that the Tesco plans appeared to absorb the Herefordshire Council-run car parks on Kings Acre and Overross Street.

Councillors investigated and have been assured that the car parks will remain in the ownership of Herefordshire Council.
