AS a result of a £11million investment by Herefordshire Council a number of roads in Ross-on-Wye are being resurfaced.
Already Copse Cross Street has finally been resurfaced and now it’s the turn of Brookend Street.
The council is aware that Brookend Street suffered badly from flooding over previous years and a spokesperson for the authority said: “whilst Welsh Water are investigating the sewage system with a view to undertaking works in the future we have been unable to obtain a timescale from them.
“Whilst we would ideally like for any works to the sewerage system to be undertaken before we resurface the road, the condition of Brookend Street is such that we need to progress our works.
“We will continue to liaise with Welsh Water over its future plans, including measures to ensure the carriageway condition is left in an appropriate condition after undertaking any future sewerage works that may take place in the area.”
Resurfacing works are set to begin this week and last until Friday, September 26 and run between 7pm and 5am.
The works will be taking place under a road closure order and will involve the removal of the existing course before a new layer is laid. Where relevant, works will be undertaken to correct other highway defects including drainage.
A fully signed diversion route will be displayed locally and where possible, vehicular access to properties affected by the closure will be maintained.
The spokesperson added: “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we will do all that we can to minimise the impact of our work whilst a new surface is laid.
“The programme of works may change in certain circumstances, such as bad weather and this may be at short notice and without further written warning.”
