Traffic delays on the M50 and A449 on Tuesday night (September 6th) were caused by a diesel spillage, of more than one mile in length, which had leaked from a HGV.

A spokesperson from Highways England told the Ross Gazette that the fuel spillage took place where the A449 meets the M50, so one lane was closed on the A449 and one lane was closed on the M50, while the road was made safe.

The incident was reported to them at 5.57pm on Tuesday, and the A449 closure remained in place until 7.30pm, but all lanes were open by 9.12pm.

Another road closure on the M50 was in place later that night, which had been planned previously for resurfacing.
