Tudorville Post Office will close on December 4th and reopen as an outreach office sometime in the future, offering a limited service alongside the regular shop counter.

Councillor Anne Gray who has been helping the residents of Tudorville in the fight to save their post office was extremely disappointed by the news. She told the Ross Gazette:?"I am very disappointed for the people, their hopes were raised then dashed.

"I feel very sorry for people who travel from Walford and Bishopswood to use Tudorville and will now have to join the very long queues at Ross Post Office."

Councillor Gray added that the Parish Liaison officer Anthony Bush had done an outstanding job trying to organise the fight against Post Office Ltd.

Herefordshire Council has warned that the county has to be vigilant to prevent further post office closures, which will isolate the most vulnerable members of the community. The council is now urgently consolidating plans for how it can fight to protect the post offices remaining in the county network.

At a meeting of the full council on Friday, October 31st, councillors condemned the recent review of post offices as a sham. They unanimously supported an emergency motion, put by council leader Roger Phillips, which dismissed the six-week consultation by Post Office Limited as 'a total waste of time'.

Councillors from all the political parties spoke of their anger or dismay at the consultation process and that the closures would hit vulnerable, elderly and disabled people hardest. The council has contacted local MPs, other local authorities and government bodies to see what can be done to fight the decision.
