MADAM, I was absolutely flabbergasted when I read Mr Bramer's comments regarding town twinning. What point was he making? I assume he has canvassed the public he represents as a local councillor to back up his argument.

I would like to point out that Ross/Condé Twinning Association members are local people from Ross and the surrounding area, who fund their involvement and visits to France themselves. We are not some elite group with no involvement in the community. We are a very sociable band of people who welcome everyone who would like join us.

I think I speak for the twinners when I say that we feel it is important to us and the Town that long lasting friendships and understanding have been forged over the years. If Mr Bramer thinks that somehow it is detrimental to the wellbeing of the townspeople, then maybe he would like to enlighten all of us.

I would also make the comment that the majority of the town council and the elected Mayors have given us their whole hearted support over the years, and several have joined us on visits at their own expense.
