A stabbing in Pigs Alley on Thursday morning, April 21st, and the wailing of police and ambulance sirens in the town centre heralded the start of the Bank Holiday in Ross.
Residents and shoppers gathered in High Street as several police vehicles and an ambulance arrived at the scene. Forensic investigations carried on into the afternoon.
A woman, in her 30s, was arrested following the stabbing of a man in his 20s, at an address in Pigs Alley, she has been bailed pending further police enquiries. A police spokesman told the Ross Gazette that the individuals involved knew each other and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The Bank Holiday weekend
The long weekend brought out the best and worst of people in Ross. Hardworking teachers and parents organised Easter activities or Royal Wedding celebrations and the warm weather brought crowds of locals and visitors to local pubs such as the Hostelrie at Goodrich which held a sausage and cider festival.
However litter left by youths at the Rope Walk has been a source of anger for many residents. Despite regular clean up operations by Amey, contractors employed by Herefordshire Council to keep the riverside areas clean and tidy, there is a huge amount of broken glass and other rubbish to be seen every evening.
