Debris from a row of willow trees which have grown along the banks of Rudhall Brook have been pulled into the water and there is concern that it will block the Flood Alleviation Scheme.
Brian Edwards of Broadmeadow Caravan Park has contacted Herefordshire Council about the brook. He is very worried that if there is rain before the debris is cleared, the grid, which protects the Flood Alleviation Scheme will get blocked.
He told the Ross Gazette that he cleared a large section of the brook which runs alongside the caravan park to the corner where it goes under the bypass. He said:?“Although I say it myself, I did a good job, I spent a lot of time between October and November clearing this section, which runs alongside the industrial estate, and now vandals have blocked it again.”
He said Herefordshire Council spent millions on the Flood Alleviation Scheme but do not seem to want to pay for maintenence.
He said he started clearing the brook when the Wye River Board closed down in the 1960s, but he said it really needs to be done right back to the river.
