At the recent exhibition showcasing the county in Brussels, representatives from all over Herefordshire shared their favourite things about the county, and what they believe makes it so great. However, concerns were also raised about the future of Herefordshire if it rests on tourism.David Harlow, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for economy and communications, spoke about the range of business and investment opportunities in the county.

Former Vice President of the European Historic Houses, Deputy Lieutenant James Hervey-Bathurst, of Eastnor Castle and Estate, highlighted its draw as a tourist destination. However, he also touched upon the increasing competition that may threaten the county economically.

He said: "Herefordshire is a great place for tourism, culture and heritage. Tourism is a big business in the county, employs a lot of people, and attracts a lot of people. But we have to add more.

"There is a lot of competition, not just at home but in Europe, so we have to keep working in Herefordshire to get people in".

MEP Anthea McIntyre, who secured the exhibition space, remains enthusiastic about the county's future. She said: "Miss McIntyre said: "Herefordshire is the perfect place to invest, do business, to holiday or to source the finest goods and foodstuffs.

"We will continue to trade with the whole world -  and the EU will continue to be a major market."
