Ross Tennis Centre's Ladies 'B' Team entertained Kempsey 'A' team on Sunday with what can only be described as atrocious conditions, cold, wet and windy. They are in Division 4 of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League.

Sue Humble, partnering Teresa Smith who has returned to competitive tennis after a five year gap, got the team off to a perfect start by beating the opposing first pair in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Ross second pairing of Lynn O'Driscoll and Val Davies took the first set against their second pair, 7-6 before dropping the second set 6-3. However, they bounced back to take the deciding set 6-3 thus winning the rubber. In the changeover, Sue and Teresa, again truimphed in straight sets by the same score line, 6-3, 6-2. The final rubber was won by Ross pair, Lynn and Val by another long and testing three set thriller with the score 7-6, 2-6, 7-6. This resulted in Ross gaining all five possible points in their first match of the season.
