Ross town Reserves were away to Holmer in the Herefordshire junior cup on Saturday, October 18th.
Town started the match poorly and conceded from a corner in the early stages of the game with poor marking to blame.
A spirited fight back brought the scores level with Liam Parry finishing off a delightfully flighted free kick into the Holmer area.
Soon after getting level, Town seemed to lose all concentration and it wasn't long until they found themselves down once again with poor marking at yet another set piece their downfall. The game stayed fairly stale for a while until a Ross move was finished off with a header at the far post by Cookie Carr.
Shortly after town once again were unable to defend a corner and conceded another goal to go in 3-2 down at half time. With a few harsh but constructive words at half time Ross came out much improved in the second half. After some good composed passing football was played, Cookie Carr scored another equaliser with a strike from the edge of the box for his brace.
Town then took the game to Holmer and with around 20 minutes remaining a well aimed ball into the Holmer penalty area from Leon hill was glanced home by the head of Liam Parry for Town to lead for the first time in the game.
Holmer then rallied impressively and applied much pressure to the Town defence in the closing stages, but Town seemed to have learned from their first half mistakes and held on well to seal the victory 4-3.
The Security Alarm Services man of the match was Leon Hill.
Ross Town Reserves are away next Saturday to Dore Valley in the league, with a race night to follow at the Hope and Anchor.
