There was anticipation in the air on Tuesday, February 21st, not just because of the palindromic date (21-02- 2012) but also because Ross was waiting for the excitement of the pancake races. The competitions began at 2.30pm, kicked off by the Mayor, and crowds built up during the afternoon especially as the children joined from school.

Determination to hang on to his title as the Association of Ross Traders' champion pancake racer spurred Richard Mayo on as he pounded up Broad Street tossing his pancake along the way. However after a very tight race he had to share the honours with Paul Hunter.

Old and young, there were races for everyone. More photos in next week's Gazette
