Pupils, teachers, parents and governors at Walford Primary School had a celebratory picnic on a very sunny Friday, June 10th, to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.

A parade of crowns made by the children in the infant classes and the art gallery of portraits of the Queen produced by children in the juniors were enjoyed by all.

The Queen of Walford, Joyce Thomas MBE, a former Mayor of Ross-on-Wye,?was invited to blow out the candles on the Queen’s birthday cake, and all the children sang a very enthusiastic “Happy Birthday.”

Mr Paul Deneen OBE JP DL, said: “As Chair of the Governors, I would like to take the opportunity of thanking the Headteacher, Louise George, all of the teaching and support staff and particularly the Parent Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) for the very special event organised and arranged last week to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday.”

He added, “The pupils had a very special day indeed, and were involved in a number of competitions, which proved to be a great success. The support offered by the PTFA was superb, and we are most grateful to all parents and carers for their assistance on the day which was much appreciated.”
