MADAM, Congratulations to all those involved in organising the very successful Italian Market last Friday. The town had a real buzz with crowds of people, many of them first-time visitors, enjoying wandering around in the sunshine and commenting on the number of unusual shops.
Previous markets have, for us at least, meant a noticeable drop in the number of customers in the lower part of Broad Street and Brookend and very little passing traffic when the Market area is closed off, creating a feeling of being 'cut off' from the town centre. Maybe the next French Market could be persuaded to have more stalls in the Market House and not need to close the road. We enjoyed being part of the experience which brought so much extra business and a happy atmosphere to the town.
