MP Jesse Norman praised all the services which came together today to help with the evacuation of elderly residents of Whitchurch House Care Home due to the flooding.

The MP met the tactical organising group at Plough Lane and was pleased to meet with local members of the team overseeing the ongoing care of the residents at the Larruperz Centre in Ross-on-Wye. He said that he had seen a really effective response to the emergency.

Michelle Jones explained the procedure for co-ordinating the ongoing safety and well-being of the residents to Herefordshire Councillors and the MP.

They have been able to get in place staff including social workers and care home managers to meet and greet the residents to reassure them and assess their needs. They will be looking for new accommodation for the residents for at least the next few months.
