MADAM,

There are times when I really wonder if the people who make decisions in this town are actually resident on the same planet.

Who, on this earth, thought it would be a brilliant idea to permanently block off 19 valuable car parking spaces in the Swimming Pool car park for the occasional visiting coach whilst daily denying shoppers, workers and locals easy access to the town centre? Coaches have always parked in Homs Road car park (after dropping off their charges in the town) and after a barrier was introduced, a key was left for the coach drivers at a neighbouring business for them to collect and return. The council tell me that this arrangement was working really well until recently when "someone in authority" confiscated the key which has made it impossible for visiting coaches to park there now. So, Hereford Council have been forced to find a place for them elsewhere. Utter madness!

This idiotic decision follows closely on the footsteps of other jaw dropping ideas such as the ridiculous one way system that was foisted on us a few years ago as well as confusing signs affecting traffic flow and on street parking, not least by Swan House but also the example in Broad Street which shows that anyone can park for 30 minutes but not wait unless you are a taxi!

Why not just close all the central streets off to cars and everyone park at Morrisons? That would seem to be the ultimate motive.
