The game got underway on an extremely blustery September morning, despite playing with the wind advantage Junior's started on the back foot with most of the early chances falling to casuals. If it wasn't for debutant goal keeper Alex Goode and The Eagle Inn man of the match Matt Davies alongside his centre half partner Tom Burford Ross could have been two or three nil down by half time.
The main bright spark for Junior's in the first half was centre forward Luke Gray who complete with shin pads this week looked busy as he hassled the defence and managed to force a save from the keeper as well as shooting just wide. Late in the first half a tactical change was forced on Juniors as Centre forward Ted Loftus limped off with a leg injury, Leighton Hall came on in defence, this left man of the match contender Luke Gray as the solo striker. It was the second half when junior's finally got going, the forced tactical change along with a half time discussion possibly being the catalyst.
On the hour mark Luke Gray showed some explosive forward play as he beat two defenders only to see his strike bounce off the rusty post. A few moments later after a lovely Harry Hall cross was met by Joe Loftus bursting in from midfield and he was bundled by a Casuals defender to win a penalty, the subsequent penalty was clinically dispatched by the reliable left foot of Chris Davies.
As the game stretched and panic set in for Casuals with the game slipping from them Ross took the opportunity to really grab a strangle hold on the game, notably with a twinkle toed run from Will Barker ending in a shot flashing wide and a spectacular attempt at an overhead kick from Chris Davies that just clipped the cross bar. Ross Junior's walked away extremely pleased with the result and their 100% record for the first two games of the season as today was a game that could have easily ended in a Juniors defeat.
