The Magic Moments Club team at Ross Court Care Home have made a Wishing Well wish come true for one of their residents, Peter, with a visit to a local gin distillery.

Peter has always been a gin lover and has learnt to make an assortment of gin based cocktails but has never had the opportunity to visit a distillery and learn how gin is made.

A trip to a Herefordshire farm was arranged, where the owner of Haven Distillery, Duncan Fox, has been making artisan gin in a former pigsty for the past three years.

Duncan was delighted to show Peter around his workshop and explain the gin-making process. His wife grows the botanicals including Juniper and Lemon Verbena which go into the Haven gins and Peter got to sample the three main flavours; dry gin, lemon verbena and pink grapefruit which he said were “absolutely delicious”.

Peter said: “It was like stepping into heaven and the tastes of each of the different flavours of gin were exceptional. Duncan was so interesting to talk too and I loved my visit.”See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
