Sand bags and mesh have been installed to a rock face that Herefordshire Council described as ‘dangerous’ at Goodrich, on the B4299.
There was a rock fall by the Dry Arch Bridge at Goodrich last year and one lane of the road had to to be closed for safety and traffic lights were installed to ensure vehicles used one lane.
Work began this year to strengthen the wall and this includes adding spray concrete.
Vegetation matting will be installed at the base of the face to enable regrowth over the area.
The Dry Arch was built when Kerne Bridge was built in 1825-8. This was when the road underneath in the cutting was made to connect with Huntsham Ferry and Whitchurch.
