Welsh Water is continuing to deal with a sewage leak in the Kyrle Street car park.
Residents in the Ross-on-Wye street say there has been a problem in this area for about eight years but they contacted Herefordshire Council and Welsh Water when the situation became much worse recently.
A resident told the Gazette that the pipe often leaks, and the sewage runs down the road at peak times, erupting in the evenings when people are home from work and using their “facilities”.
She added that Welsh Water have reportedly cleaned up the site multiple times, and were seen temporarily repairing the pipe on Tuesday, July 24th with waterproof tape.
A Welsh Water spokesperson said: “We became aware of a blockage in a section of the sewer in Kyrle Street, Ross-on-Wye, earlier this month and a team went to the site and resolved the blockage quickly.
“However, we have been continuing to work on site to repair extensive damage caused by the blockage – and are working to repair the damaged section of pipe as soon as possible. Services have been maintained to all customers throughout this process, but we apologise for any inconvenience caused while we carry out this work.
“Sewer blockages are often caused by inappropriate items being flushed away and the build-up of cooking oils and fats which are poured down the sink. We urge customers to help avoid sewer blockages by disposing of waste materials properly.
“If anyone experiences wastewater flooding we would ask them to call our helpline immediately on 0800 085 3968.”
