Local author Rosa Temple has released a book, inspired by her mum’s style of storytelling.
The Slow Lane Walkers Club is a feel-good tale of unlikely friendship and adventure. Protagonist Daniel isn’t used to living life in the slow lane. When he finds himself unexpectedly jobless and back in his old Cornish hometown, he can’t sit still. Hazel—widowed and in her eighties—barely leaves the house. When she sees an advert for Daniel’s new walking club, she takes up the chance of something new.
Daniel is disappointed that she’s the only one who joins his group, but what he doesn’t expect is to discover that Hazel is one of the most fascinating people he’s ever met.
Rosa Temple is the pseudonym of published author, Fran Clark. Fran has penned and self-published three books as Rosa Temple and publisher Harper Collins has published three more. A mother of two, Fran is married to a musician and lives in Herefordshire.
Inspired by her mum’s storytelling, Rosa tried to capture the same drama and excitement on the page. After many attempts and coming to the conclusion she wasn’t good enough, she stopped. However, after a family tragedy she began to realised life can change quickly and regretted not having written her story. Finally putting pen to paper, she completed her first novel and had it published in 2014. Ever since, she has been writing about lives and worlds that she hoped other people would want to read as much as she enjoyed listening to her mum telling her stories.
Rosa writes about the importance of community and how friendship and a sense of belonging can be found in unexpected places.
Fran has—so far—penned and self-published three publications as Rosa Temple: Sleeping with Your Best Friend, Natalie’s Getting Married, and Single by Christmas.
Harper Collins has published three other books under Fran’s pseudonym. The first was Playing by the Rules, followed by Playing Her Cards Right, and Playing for Keeps.
