The world's largest greenhouses and its best canoe trip, a first edition of Shakespeare's sonnets and Europe's first international Dark Sky Reserve all help make up VisitEngland's '101 things to do before you go abroad'.

The Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) made it twice into the nominations that were submitted by the public and chosen by the national tourist board, along with a panel of experts, in a bid to find the best and most quintessentially English things to see and do.

The Wye Valley made two of the categories including number 19 in the Food and Drink section, with the recommendation to drink real cider in an orchard in Herefordshire, and in the Health and Fitness Section a suggestion to canoe down the River Wye.
