MADAM, For several weeks we have been entertained by the words and actions of a Ross Town Councillor, relating to the impending increases in parking charges. He has quoted increases of 'more that 100%', and portrayed them as serious hindrances to the likely trade in Ross shops, with motorists perhaps shopping elsewhere. All very serious!
I feel that Ross people would like to know the actual increases, to see how serious they are. I have obtained an official copy of these increases, some of which I detail below.
In all the main parks, the increases are: one hour – 10p, two hours – 30p and three hours – 50p. Sunday charges, in all but one, £2, the cost of a cup of coffee, all day.
All very serious? I don't think so. To quote a well known tennis player: "You cannot be serious, man!" I think I detect a Councillor trying to rustle up a few extra votes at the next Council Election.
