Ross 2nds played away on Saturday in a merit table league game and came away narrow winners three points to six. Playing conditions weren't great on a heavy pitch and it was Ross who coped better early on. No 8 Tim Hanks stole valuable yards on many occasions, backed up with some great clearing out from flankers Paul Hayward and Jake Christopher. From this pressure, Bromyard penalised and outside-half Tom Harris took full advantage in slotting home a difficult kick. Bromyard started to find their feet and get into the game, but time and time again they hit a wall of blue and white with centres Pete Jarvis and Pete Smith thwarting the attacks in midfield. The second half started the same way as the first with Matty Russell, Alan Fuller and Steve White punching holes within the forwards and again Bromyard were penalised leaving Tom Harris to dissect the posts again putting Ross 6-0 up. Bromyard converted a penalty of their own and pushed hard in the dying seconds to win the game, but last ditch defending from Matty Russell and Jake Christopher kept Bromyard out for a deserved Ross Win. The Drop Inn man of the match was Jake Christopher for quality clearing out and line out work. This week Ross 2nds are away to Bream 2nds.
