ROSS Juniors Women secured a thrilling 6-4 win away to Ludlow Town in Shropshire on Sunday afternoon.

After a slow start, Juniors showed great character to grow into the game, Hollie Mace opening the scoring from the penalty spot before Kaci Johnson produced a stunning long-range strike for 2-0.

Poppy Baker marked her first start with her first goal for the club, while Lauren Creed added two well-taken finishes.

And Millie Malsom rounded off the scoring with a superb header from a Mace corner delivery.

Despite battling a strong wind and late pressure from Ludlow in the second half, who scored four of their own, the squad held firm to secure an impressive victory that leaves them fifth in Mid West Counties, with as many as eight games in hand on the teams above them, ahead of a home match against Dudley Ladies this Sunday (March 1).

Ross Juniors Ladies haven't played since an 8-0 home win over Ledbury on January 11, but are still top of the Herefordshire Women's League with games in hand on the teams in second and third.

And they will be hoping for another three points when they host second-placed Hereford Lads Club Ladies the same afternoon.
