ROSS Golf Club’s top handicap A team were in the care of Cam Haines and enjoyed a highly respectable year to finish runners-up in their Division 1 North Glos Foursomes League campaign.
A single point separated Cam's team and ultimate winners Cotswold Hills Golf Club in Cheltenham, who have been champions for the past four years.
While Ross enjoyed a home win against their illustrious rivals, they also needed to win in Cheltenham to cause an upset, but it was not to be.
Meanwhile the B team, who play a competitive four-ball better ball format in the top North Glos B team Division 1 League had another fantastic season under team skipper Justin Halfpenny.
Having led them to the title in 2023 and 2024, he inspired his squad to make it a hat-trick.
While the omens were not good after losing their two matches, a remarkable finish saw them excel in their last four with two of them away from home, resulting in them finishing 'No I' again in the final table.
Justin paid tribute to his troop's collective spirit and sense of fun and camaraderie.
And the squad are well placed to maintain the momentum engendered by Justin and inspired by Mark Whitmore before him, as Simon Phillips has been appointed to skipper in 2026.
