Two Ross-on-Wye Bowls Club members Glyn Williams and Martin Smith, featured in four finals at the Leominster Indoor Bowls Club Finals this weekend.

Teaming up with Jimmy Lindsey and Ashley Edwards from Brimfield, they won the Club Fours by two shots in a high quality final against Howard Turberfield, John Culver, Mike Cockett and Geoff Hibbert.

In the Men’s Pairs final against Glyn Lloyd and Ron Perry, Glyn and Martin eased away from the start and maintained a comfortable lead throughout, with some quality bowling from both teams, to win by four shots. In the Men’s Triples they teamed up with Jimmy Lindsey, and played G Lloyd, R Jones and Ron Perry. From 10-1 down they levelled the match at 16 shots apiece with three ends to go, but could not manage to get the victory, losing by four shots. A good crowd were treated to some excellent bowling. Their fourth final of the weekend saw them play in the Australian Pairs, again against Ron Perry who teamed up with Thelma Watts. Again, as in the men’s pairs, Glyn and Martin started well and kept a steady lead and were four shots up going into the last end, where they held second shot to win by three.
