The Goodrich Ladies ’A’ttitudes travelled to Worcester on Sunday, November 4th, a damp and drizzly afternoon, to play a very strong ’B’ team in Division 3 West of the H & W Winter League.

In the first rubber, Steph Howell and Cheryl Mordecai won a tight match against the Worcester first pair, 6-3 / 6-3. Meanwhile Kim Martin and Rachael Wintle, pairing up for only the second time, also had a very tight battle, losing 4-6 / 4-6.

The second round of rubbers proved even more competitive, with both going to three sets. Steph and Cheryl came out eventual winners after a long battle 4-6 / 7-5 / 6-2.

Rachael and Kim got off to a flying start against the Worcester first pair, winning that set 6-1, but Worcester came back taking the second set 6-2. The third set was a very tight affair but finally went Worcester’s way 6-4.

With rubbers and sets even, it was time to retire to the club house for a well earned cup of tea and games count-back. The overall result was a win to Goodrich by 5 games.

A very fine performance and fantastic result, well done ladies. Their next match is on Sunday, 18th November, away to Manor Park ’C’, Malvern.
