AN unbeaten Mikey Gooch half century and a ninth-wicket run out helped seal a tight 18-run Aston Ingham win at home to Chipping Sodbury on the opening day of the Gloucestershire CL Premier season.

Dharzekanth Yoganadan with 58 enjoyed a 97-run sixth-wicket partnership with Gooch, backed by Oliver Henson with 40, Nic Merrin 27 and Angus Bartlett 23 as the hosts reached 250-7 in their 50 overs.

Chipping skipper and opener Tom Laver fired 86 off 66 balls in reply, but three wickets apiece for Anthony James and Sam Didcote helped dismiss the visitors for 232 with 11 balls to spare.

Aston 2nds also won by 39 runs away to Malvern outfit Eldersfield 1sts in GCL 7A after setting a target of 186-9 off 40 overs.

Charlie Lorton batting at six starred with the bat scoring 65, backed by Tim Dulson with 38.

And three wickets for Ethan Drew-White and two each for Frankie Gooding and Lorton then helped dismiss the hosts for 147 in the final over.

The 3rds were well beaten though in GCL 8A, going down by eight wickets away to Churchdown 2nds after being dismissed for 102, Tom Parsons top-scoring with 28 before the hosts eased to 103-2 in 24 overs, Philip Leighton with both wickets.

The 4ths were also undone by nine wickets at home to Redmarley 2nds in GCL 9, 113 all out before the visitors reached 117-1 in 25 overs, Stewart Hudd firing 73.

But Ross CC 1sts were celebrating a five-wicket win away to Brockhampton 4ths in Herefordshire South 9.

Kiran Krishnan took 4-20 backed by two wickets for Sachin Anil and one apiece for Chris Keywood and Will Brookes alongside a Muhammed Noufal Fazaludeen run out, as the hosts were dismissed for 93 in 33 overs.

Chloe Tingle then starred with the bat for Ross, scoring 37 not out as they reached 97-5 in the 18th over, with Anil also scoring 22.

Opener Jack Cowles fired 80 as Newent 1st XI won by four wickets in the final over away to Chipping Sodbury 2nds in GCL 3, skipper Neil Roche scoring the winning single to overhaul the hosts’ 207-7 off 40 overs.

James Towner took three wickets for the visitors before Newent reached 208-6 with five balls to spare, Roche finishing on 19 not out and James Towner also scoring 23.

Nigel Brown scored 62 for the 3rds at home to Hatherley & Reddings 5ths in GCL 9C, but they lost by five wickets, all out for 151 in the 32nd over before the visitors reached 152-5 in 17 overs.

A skipper’s innings of 67 by Jack Lewis helped Goodrich 1st XI to 251-7 off 40 overs at home to Corse & Staunton 2nds in GCL 5, backed by Chris Tookey with 42 and Jack Waldis with 35.

Five wickets for Matt Young then blew the visitors’ batting away, supported by single strikes for Lewis, Joe Provis, Bradley Sussex, Jake Jarrett and Neil Price, dismissing them for 124 in 27 overs for a 127-run victory.

Goodrich 2nds also won by seven wickets away to Lydney 3rds in GCL 9A, Wayne Husbands and Alex Parker taking three wickets apiece and Harry Mutlow and Ralph Heaven Richards braces, as the hosts were 98 all out in 32 overs.

The visitors then needed just 9.3 overs to reach 100-3, Ayrton Lowther smashing 52, Lee Harrington 19 and Parker 14 not out.
