KIRAN Krishnan starred for Ross CC 1sts with the ball, taking five wickets as they launched their new Worcestershire County League season with an eight-wicket win away to Colwall 3rds.
In one of the few games to beat the weather, the hosts were skittled out for 113 in 33.2 overs, Krishnan taking 5-44 off nine overs, backed by Sachin Ali with 2-14-6 and single wickets for Will Brookes and Aleander Springer, plus a Muhammed Noufal Fazaludeen run out.
With rain forecast for later in the day, Ross wasted no time in racing to 115-2 in just 13.5 overs to claim victory, Fazaludeen cracking 56 off just 22 balls, including two sixes and nine fours, backed by Brookes with 27 off 21 balls and Springer with 25 off 25 balls.
Ross host Wyesiders Penallt & Redbrook tonight (Wednesday, May 6) in their first Forest Hundred League T20 game, starting at 6pm.
They then head for Presteigne on Saturday (May 9) for another league match.
Elsewhere, Fownhope 1sts scored a superb 270-4 off 45 overs at home to Almeley, Peter Skirrow striking 82, Adeel Sahal 46, Harishankar Sivaprasad 29 and Muhammad Zafar 27.
But the visitors then reached 149-2 off 21 overs when the rain came, and were deemed winners on a revised target.
