Wormelow 1st XI travelled to Worcester for a crucial league clash with Old Vigornians 1st XI. Captain, Tom Cutler, had no hesitation in inviting the home side to bat after winning the toss.

The Wormelow attack bowled steadily throughout the innings to restrict the home side to 235-4 from their 50 overs. Youngster, Will Langlands, making the step up from the 2nd XI, bowled superbly for figures of 10-2-33-3. The other wicket fell to Luke Sparrow (1-65 off 15 overs).

Wormelow found themselves a couple of wickets down early in the run chase before opener, Richard Stafford, was joined by Luke Jones, and the pair put together a huge partnership for the third wicket. Jones eventually fell for a quality 63.

Stafford went on to complete his maiden century for the club before falling for exactly 100.

Wormelow then had a wobble as the next four batsmen contributed just a total of five runs between them, with three falling for ducks. Ali Main (14no) was joined by Josh Worsley (19no) in a match winning ninth wicket stand which saw the required total chased down in the penultimate over, much to the relief of nervy number 11, James Powell. A brave effort from Worsley in particular who was only batting down the order after fracturing a finger whilst fielding. Next week Wormelow host Bredon and will be looking to maintain their recent fine form.
