Unbeaten Wormelow 3rd XI made the trip to Brockhampton 4th XI looking to maintain their fine start to the season. Stand in captain Dan Hale won the toss and chose to bat first.

The Wormelow innings got off of to a steady start against some decent bowling with Andy Lancaster (11), Chris Stonadge (14) and Dennis Hohne (17) all chipping in. However wickets continued to fall at regular intervals with none of the Wormelow batsmen able to pass 20.

Billy Jones (12) and Hale (16) made useful contributions down the order before veteran Derek Porter added 10no, during which he passed 5000 runs for the club, as Wormelow’s innings closed on 119 in the 37th over. Bubb (2-16) and H Meredith (2-19) the pick of the Brockhampton attack.

In reply Brockhampton were made to work hard for their runs as they chased down the target. Youngsters Will Boiling (1-19) and Freddy Harding (1-45) picked up wickets but an unbeaten 58 from Holgate saw Brockhampton triumph by 8 wickets in the 33rd over. Next week they will host Bosbury at Kingstone High School.
