ROSS 1st XI lost their first six wickets for just 20 runs off the bat on Saturday, but still beat visitors Wormelow 2nds by 59 runs.

Seventh man Sachin Anil with 28, ninth man Ben Rimmington 27 not out and last man Jim Lewis 28 not out helped them reach a modest-looking 131-9 off 40 overs.

But the Ross attack then stepped up to the mark to blitz the Wormelow batting for just 72 in 29.1 overs, new Herefordshire Women’s skipper Chloe Tingle taking 4-18 and Paul Franklin 4-12.

Goodrich 1sts also won by nine wickets at home to Cheltenham Civil Service 2nds after restricting them to 168-9 off 40 overs, Neil Price and Jack Lewis both taking three wickets apiece.

Then the runs were dashed off in just 23 overs, third man Harry Porter firing an unbeaten 74 off 65 balls, including two sixes and 12 fours, and Lewis 60 not out, including 11 fours, as their 132-run unbeaten partnership saw Goodrich to 169-1.

The 2nds missed out by four wickets away to Cinderford 2nds though after setting a target of 137 all out in 38 overs, with the hosts reaching 138-6 with 7.4 overs to spare.

Colin Walker scored 66 and Harry Mutlow 20, while Megan Jones took two wickets.

Ross host Goodrich in the 20-20 competition tonight (Wednesday, May 21) before welcoming Woolhope 2nds on Saturday (May 24), when Goodrich 1sts visit Down Hatherley and their 2nds host Huntley 2nds.
