Ross Golf Club's latest annual Trophy event was the Keene Cup played for by its Senior members. The event enabled former Club Captain, 9 handicapper Doug Duncanson to add to his list of major golfing achievements, when his 41 stableford points total was just enough to show him top of the final results table in which 70 members took part.

Conditions were not easy for good scoring but Doug's highly consistent and effective round in which he made three birdies and dropped just two shots to par on both front and back nine holes, made him a worthy winner.

Seniors Captain, Cecil Wheatstone with 40 points was runner-up followed by Richard Mackley, Nick Swan and David Whitehead with 39 points each and Mike Bradburn with 37 points.

The current squad of Ross Juniors, looked after by Tony Howells and Head Professional Tim Hall, have made a good start to their North Gloucestershire League campaign with home wins against Monmouth and Forest of Dean counterparts by 3.5 pts to 2.5 pts and 4.5 points to 1.5 pts respectively.

These matches enabled Sophie Price to make her first appearance a winning one. Jack Christopher will have been delighted with his form which saw him one down but able to taste success by winning his final two holes.

Another exciting finish involved Jake Howells, after being three down with four holes to play he conspired to gain a halved match result. When the squad visited the challenging Monmouth Course they were pleased to return home with a three points each draw thanks to wins by Ross Juniors Captain, Harry Butler, Jake Wild and Jake Howells with a challenging and exciting season awaiting the squad.
