Earl Smith of the Climb on Bikes team took first place, by a huge margin, from Ross race sec Paul Stephens on Thursday night when 14 riders completed the Old Gore 10 mile time trial in conditions which slowed most of the field compared to the previous week. The two leaders were closely followed by Mark Lavington, having his first competitive outing of the year. The gym and coaching sessions really seem to have worked for him as he beat Steve Millard by one solitary second. Forest of Dean's Steve Williams and Alan Matthews were next up, with Steve and Mark gaining joint rider of the night for their efforts. Full report in this week's Gazette.
