Ross Ladies took to the fairways last week, bedecked in a tasteful array of festive accessories, to play their annual nine hole competition that is the precursor to their Christmas Lunch. It was hard to believe that the winter season is upon us as the course is still full of autumn colour from the valiant oak trees that are determinedly hanging on to the last of their leaves to the lush green fairways. The course had dried out considerably from the recent heavy rain and with only one temporary green there was every opportunity for the teams of two to accrue creditable scores. At the presentation Lady Captain, Nesta Hirst, paid tribute to everyone involved in the hard work that is carried out behind the scenes of these events, from the bar staff to all the ladies whose floral talents were on display throughout the club. Nesta then presented the prizes announcing that the winners of the front nine competition with a massive 26 points were Mary Royston and Pam Duke. The back nine winners were Penny Caves and Annette Mansie with 21 points.
