The weekend saw a fixture clash for Ross Rugby club as the First XV were scheduled for both a league game, away in?Cheltenham and a second round cup match, in the Midlands Vase, at home to Tenbury.Early in the game, at Greytree, Ross were awarded a penalty in which Casey Morgan put 3 points up for the home team.Captain Gavin Oates gained possession of the ball and popped it off to Gareth Holdsworth. Gareth saw the ball to Vice Captain Dan Field before receiving a hard tackle to the ground – setting Dan up to score the first try for Ross. Casey Morgan converted the ball meaning the Ross lead was greater right from the start. Minutes later Gareth Holdsworth found his way through the tTenbury defence to score the second try for Ross with support closely behind from Chay Brine.Although Tenbury were strong while attacking the Ross defence proved stronger. A few small mistakes meant Ross gave away a couple of tries but Casey Morgan was having none of it. Tenbury's fly half was unsuccessful in an attempt to tackle him, Casey stormed his way from the centre of the field and was not backing down for the away team's full back, side stepping his way past, scoring the final try for Ross. Some great tackling skills were shown from Alex Bound and Gavin Oates during the game however Ross RFC Man of the match went to Casey Morgan whos outstanding performance throughout was reflected on the final score of Ross 22 - Tenbury13. Ross are away on Saturday to St Brendons Old Boys in a 2.30pm kick off. The 2nds are scheduled away to Ledbury 2nds in a 2.15pm kick off.
