It has been a busy few weeks for The Hereford Scrumpy Boys over 50s walking football club. They started their campaign in the Gloucester league with two wins and a narrow 2-1 defeat to last year’s winners, Abbeymead.

For the first time the club has also entered an over 60 team, who’s campaign in the Gloucester league saw them win one, draw one and lose one game.

Last weekend the club travelled to West London for the Uxbridge annual tournament. This tournament has now become very competitive with several professional clubs like Arsenal, Watford, Brentford and Orient entering the tournament. The Scrumpy Boys won four out of five of their group games, beating Staines, Orient, Barnet and Wealdsone. This meant they reached the semi final and a game against Watford, which they lost 1-0.

During the whole tournament the boys only conceded two goals in five games. Ironically the two teams they lost to were the teams in the final, which Uxbridge won.

At the end of the month the team are through to the next stage of the National Cup, when they will play Birmingham, Norwich and Vulcans. If they get through they will be through to the last 32 teams in England and Wales, which would be a fantastic achievement for the club.

The club is still looking to add one or two players to their squad, anyone interested can contact Mark Catlin on 07756108501
