Ross Juniors U11s recorded a comfortable win away at Bromyard on Saturday, November 26th, but they weren’t at their best in a game that was scrappy for long periods.
The visitors, from Ross-on-Wye, went close in the opening minutes with Blu Jarrett hitting a great strike that just cleared the bar and soon went ahead when a great pass from Eddie sent Luca through on goal and he finished well.
Luca almost doubled the lead with a nice strike from the edge of the area, before Bill hit a long-range effort that was well saved and Luca saw a shot clear the bar.
Jake was brought down in the penalty area and then coolly slotted the resultant kick into the bottom corner. Eddie and David both saw shots go wide of the goal before Eddie got his name onto the score sheet. Roo was untroubled in the Ross goal thanks to the defensive work of Josh, Theo and Sol.
Ross continued to pile on the pressure, Harvey’s excellent pass sent Eddie through on goal but somehow the keeper managed to keep it out but then Harvey soon put Ross 4 – 0 up.
A good run and a cross from Eddie set up Jake in a good position but he didn’t quite catch his shot right and it was easily saved. Jake soon made amends though, poking home the 5th goal, following an excellent cross from Harvey. Despite the goals it was not a particularly good performance, but the second half play was much better.
Early on in the second half Bill tried his luck from distance and forced the Bromyard keeper into a save and then Ross scored a great team goal which involved Theo, Josh, Sol, Jake and Harvey in the build-up. Roo played in Luca who found the inside of the far post. Minutes later Luca completed his hat-trick when Bill and Harvey combined down the left wing to set him up.
Jake almost scored when his cross struck the post and then Bill went close. Sol was unlucky to see his shot strike the post after a good dribble in the penalty box and then Jake grabbed his third from a corner. Harvey scored his second of the game and almost grabbed a third minutes later. Jake scored his fourth and then David had a good shot saved. Sol completed the scoring with a good run from the left and a neat finish from an acute angle.
The Harley Finishings man of the match was Luca Morgan.
