Ross and District Motor Sports Club has had a very busy few days, which began with the third grass auto test on Thursday night, held at Roger Matthew’s farm in St Weonards.

Smooth flat fields were used for the test, which saw fifteen entries. The club had five successful tests with Ollie Jenkins in his Mazda MX5 coming out as overall winner, and also winning the rear wheel drive class.

Second overall, and first in the front wheel drive class, was Andrew Bridgewater in his Polo GTI. The production auto test driver with passenger was won by his brother Phillip Bridgewater in his Peugeot 206. He had been fortunate to complete the test, after he lost one brand new front tyre which rolled off the rim.

The Wye Valley car trial on Sunday took place at Hill Farm Putley, near Ledbury. This is one of the premier trials in the country, accounting for most of the championships.

First overall was David Oliver in his Hillman Imp, first in class one was Henry Kitching in his Vauxhall Corsa, first in class two was Mark Hoppe in his Citroen Saxo and first in class three was Steve Courts, also in a Hillman Imp.

The first novice was won by William Stronach in his Seat Arosa, and finally, the first Ross member was Olly Alford in his Renault Clio.

The next grass auto test is on Thursday, June 29th at St Weonards, again at 6.30pm.
