NEWENT Town's eight-match winning run was halted 4-2 by visitors Wantage on Saturday, as the Daffs conceded three late goals in five minutes.

They had the consolation of a midweek 6-2 Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup win at Herefordshire neighbours Wellington, Kyle Taylor and Connor Baker firing braces and Ben Harbourne and Dylan Hart also on target.

And despite the mid-table Freds levelling thanks to a wind-assisted effort two minutes before the break, Taylor struck seven minutes into the second period to make it 2-1, which was still the score with 10 minutes left.

But the wheels fell off in the final 10 minutes, as the Oxfordshire visitors scored a quick-fire three to take all three points, sloppy defending compounded by a red card for protesting, with the Daffs slipping back to sixth in the table.

But Ruardean Hill Rangers high-fived it winning 5-0 at home to Bromley Heath in the Gloucestershire League, Ollie Mason slotting in at the back post on 20 minutes before latching onto an Aaron Underwood goal kick to fire in his second 10 minutes later.

An interception on 61 minutes then saw Fin Jones played in for 3-0, before Mason grabbed his hat-trick heading home a whipped in ball.

And Luke Brown then laid it on a plate at the back post for Steve Clark from a fast counter-attack to complete the scoring.

But Mitcheldean were blitzed 8-2 at home by high-flying Barnwood United in Gloucestershire Northern 2, Adam Beaumont and James York their scorers.

And table-mates Lydbrook Athletic were also humbled 4-1 at Harrow Hill, Blaine Smith with the consolation.

Howle Hill were celebrating a 3-1 win at Weston playing fields over Westbury United in North Gloucestershire Premier though, Jack Lewis, Kristian Milnes and Joe Thomas their marksmen.

Table-toppers Huntley also ran out 4-0 winners at home to Lydney A, Reuben Fishpool and Lee James both firing braces, while Longhope settled for a point after a 0-0 home draw with Ellwood.

Goals for Lee Lewis, Jon Tookey, James Wayman and Jermaine Kijuu secured a 4-0 home win for Lydbrook 2nds over Ruardean Hill 2nds in NG1, while the latter’s neighbours Ruardean United were also on the wrong end of a 1-0 result at Yorkley.

Ross Juniors were hit for six out of the HFA Junior Cup at Hereford-based Civil Service, Keiran Young with their sole consolation.

And Mitcheldean 2nds fared no better than their seniors, crashing 6-0 away to Woolaston 2nds in NG2, the same result for Longhope 2nds away to Broadwell A in NG3.

But Lydbrook A won a nine-goal thriller away to Alkerton Rangers 2nds in the Gloucestershire Primary Cup, Carl Stevens firing a brace backed by goals from Joe Ray, Liam Chapman and Toby Holden.

Ruardean Hill A also made it through 5-4 on penalties after a 3-3 draw away to Upton St Leonards 2nds, Luke Johnson, Lee Johnson and Ryan Shinners their open play scorers.
