Ross Juniors Colts U17s welcomed Stu Moss and his Ledbury Swifts U17s to The Sports Club on Sunday, January 22nd.

The lads hadn’t played a game since before Christmas, so the team was itching to get out and play. The pitch was hard with frost at 10am, but luckily it had thawed out enough by the 2pm kick off.

The first half kicked off and Ledbury went straight on the attack; they have a very quick and skilful striker, who proved to be a bit of a handful for the back four. He raced through the defence and coolly slotted home Ledbury’s first goal.

The Ross lads tried to get into the game, but after a month’s lay off, they were struggling to get any rhythm in their play. Once again, Ledbury’s quick striker broke through their defence and into the box. Goalkeeper Archie came out to claim the ball, but the striker tapped the ball around him and fell to the floor.

Archie was adjudged to have to have fouled him. He protested that he hadn’t touched him, and that the striker had dived, but a penalty was given and the same player got up and scored from the spot.
