The Ross-on-Wye Juniors chalked up their first points of the season with an emphatic win over visitors from Tividale. The Juniors were on fine form from the kick off, passing the ball around with confidence and unsettling the opposition.

The pressure soon paid off when, after a free kick on the edge of the box, Aaron shot low into the corner to score. A second goal followed five minutes later, when after a great move down the right wing, Owain passed to Tommy who slammed the ball into the net. Things got even better a couple of minutes later, when another fluid move, this time with Pirlo overlapping, saw the ball come through to Jordan who made no mistake with his shot.

At three-nil after just 15 minutes the game looked over, but Tividale are a good side and came back into the match. They pulled a goal back and for the rest of the first half put Ross on the defensive, with only a goal line clearance from Nathaniel stopping them scoring again. At the beginning of the second half Ross put the game beyond reach when Jordan scored again, following some excellent play by Aaron and Joel in midfield. Tividale kept attacking for the rest of the game, but couldn’t score.

The fan’s man of the match was Ross defender Wilf who won a duel with the visitor’s dangerous number ten and effectively kept him out of the game. Later this week the Ross Juniors Under 16s will travel to Stratford-upon-Avon to see if they can continue their excellent form.
