NEWENT Town were downed 3-0 at Woodford on Saturday, with the Northamptonshire hosts leapfrogging them as the Daffs slipped to ninth in Hellenic One.

It was 0-0 at the break, but the Reds went in front against the run of play on 57 minutes, and two more goals (66, 82) sank Newent’s hopes.

But mid-table Lydbrook Athletic lashed Mitcheldean 10-0 beside the Wye in the Gloucestershire Northern 2 derby, leaving the newly-promoted visitors three from bottom.

Finlay Morris and Lee Morton fired braces for the hosts, backed by strikes from James Mathews, Willard Mutsira, Blaine Smith, Louis Overthrow and Jayden Tribbick.

North Gloucestershire Premier leaders Huntley stayed top on goal difference courtesy of a 4-3 home win over Milkwall, Lee James firing a brace and Josh Jeffrey and Harry Clark one apiece.

Two from Ben Fletcher and one each from Jack Lewis and Joe Thomas secured a 4-1 win for Howle Hill at Weston over Woolaston, while Longhope shared the points 3-3 away to Lydney A, Robbie Clark, Joe Howard and Ashley Wallace their marksmen.

Lydbrook 2nds went top of NG1 with a 4-1 home win over Sling, Tyler Townson, James Turley, James Wayman and Jermaine Kijuu the scorers.

Goals from Stephen Watts and Finley Welsh also secured a 2-2 draw for Ruardean United away to Harrow 2nds, but Ruardean Hill 2nds lost 4-2 at home to Tidenham, Alex Stephens and Mike Harrison with the consolations.

Ross Juniors fought hard away to NG2 table toppers Soudley 2nds in a 1-0 defeat, while Mitcheldean 2nds were also bested 2-0 by visitors Bream.

Ruardean Hill A won 6-4 at home to Cam Bulldogs 3rds in the Primary North Cup, Tommy Coleman and Luke Johnson with braces and Adam Cole and Lee Johnson one apiece.

Lydbrook A also made it through 4-2 on penalties away to Leckhampton 2nds after a 1-1 draw, Will Ray with their goal, but Longhope 2nds were leathered 9-0 at home by Newton 1sts.
