Hereford Football Club has signed an agreement with Herefordshire Council (dated December 19th, 2017), which will secure the club’s tenancy at the Edgar Street stadium for a further 10 years.
The extended lease - which can be triggered by the club - will allow for future development of the club’s stadium as part of a wider area that is set to further improve.
The proposed ‘Urban Village’ project, part of the Hereford 2020 Edgar Street regeneration, could mean new associated facilities to return the ground to a four-sided stadium, as well as more retail outlets nearby.
Councillor Harry Bramer, Cabinet Member for Contracts and Assets said: “Herefordshire Council will grant the club a 10 year lease extension, which they can take up at any time before July 2020.
“Hereford FC continues to make a great contribution to the city and the wider community. Many local traders benefit from increased trade on match days and the football club is an important employer and a contributor to the local economy.”
In their most recent match on Monday, January 1st, Hereford FC entertained Redditch United at home at Edgar Street in front of 3,083 fans.
In this Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division match, Hereford took the victory; the final score was Hereford 5-2 Redditch, with four of the goals coming in the first half.
John Mills sealed the win seven minutes from time after Pablo Haysham scored twice as Hereford led 4-2 at the break.
Both of Haysham’s goals, coming in the 19th and 37th minutes, were excellent strikes.
Mills equalised from the penalty spot in the 15th minute and Haysham scored a cracking second, four minutes later.
Substitute Lance Smith earlier made it 3-2 to the Bulls in the 31st minute.
